June 20,2003 New Castle, PA - Zambelli Fireworks Internationale, the “First Family of Fireworks,” proudly lights up the night for 4th of July at over 1000+ locations across the United States.

There’s no doubt that taking spectacular fireworks photos can be a challenge. But Zambelli has met that challenge—and many others—as they have risen to the top of their industry. Experience has shown them that skill—and a bit of knowledge—makes all the difference when it comes to shooting flawless fireworks photos. This is evident in the breathtaking images that can be found in their new book, “Zambelli, The First Family of Fireworks” (available by calling, 1-800-860-0955).

Here are a few fireworks photo tips from Zambelli's patriarch, George R. Zambelli that any photo enthusiast can use:

  • USE A TIMED EXPOSURE SETTINGS- 4-sec. and 8-sec. work best with an aperture of f/8 or f/11
  • FOCUS - set your manual focus to infinity
  • FLASH - shut it off
  • SHUTTER - press the shutter release with the launch of the rocket, to avoid blurr, use a remote control
  • ZOOM - don't use it, instead, use a wide-angle setting.
  • USE A TRIPOD - shoot slower than 1/30th of a second, it can blurr the image
  • LOCATION - better off shooting from a bit of a distance, to get "side view" rather shooting up.
  • ISO - a lower ISO will help
  • FILM - use a slow-speed film

Most of all, George R. Zambelli’s advice is to be sure and have fun! Don't spend the entire evening with your eyes glued to the camera - enjoy the fireworks in person, and take plenty of photos so you can relive the experience over and over again.
